Patinack Farm Releases Stud Fees
The 2011 Spring will be an exciting time for Patinack Farm when we present two outstanding dual Group 1 winner’s to the already quality line-up of stallions for broodmare owners.
The philosophy behind the Patinack Farm breeding operation from the start has been to source stallions with a proven racetrack performance from within the highest levels of Australian and international racing.
We are proud to introduce to Australian breeders the brilliant Classic Winner of the French 2000 Guineas and French Derby, Lope De Vega (IRE). Group 1 performed at two, Lope De Vega is the best son of Champion and leading sire Shamardal (USA) to go to stud.
Lope de Vega emulated his sire Shamardal by winning the French 2000 Guineas & French Derby. Champion at 2 & 3 in Europe, Shamardal has sired 27 stakes winners (including 4 at G1 level) from only four crops of racing age.
Lope de Vega’s dam, Lady Vettori, commenced her career with 5 successive victories, including the Prix du Calvados (Gr 3) at two and is by French 2000 Guineas winner Vettori. His granddam is by Champion French Sire Kendor & a half-sister to three stakeswinners. Lope De Vega is inbred 3 x 3 to champion 2yo & successful sire Machiavellian (Mr Prospector).
We are also proud to announce the expansion of our breeding arm into Queensland. The stunning landscape of the Gold Coast hinterland already play’s host to Patinack Farm’s Queensland based racing arm and will expand to incorporate three stallions and 150 broodmares near Canungra on the Gold Coast’s Scenic Rim.
Heading the stallion line-up in Queensland is the dual Group 1 Classic Winning son of two-time Derby winner High Chaparral (IRE), Monaco Consul (NZ). Triumphant in both the Victoria Derby and Spring Champion Stakes Monaco Consul also headed the NZ 3yo Free Handicap (1600m+).
Hailing from the first SH crop of High Chaparral that includes Group 1 winners So You Think, Shoot Out and Descarado. Monaco Consul epitomises the word ‘classic’ - Classic pedigree, Classic performance, Classic looks.
Monaco Consul’s dam is a sister to Group 1 winner Con Air and a half-sister to Australian Guineas winner and successful sire Military Plume. This is the immediate family of Group 1 winning sprinter Nicconi and 5-time Group 1 winner Niconero.
‘In setting our 2011 stallion fees we have been mindful of the sales results throughout the year and have noted the competitive nature of the market. Therefore, we are please to announce that we will not be increasing any of our service fees for the upcoming season. All Patinack Farm stallions will remain at their existing fee, which reflects the current stability of the marketplace. The present state of thoroughbred trading in Australasia, comparative to other parts of the globe, is a real indication of the resilience of the local industry - collectively we have been able to stabilise what was a volatile market’. said Patinack Farm’s Chairman Nathan Tinkler.
The first crop of our three foundation sires Casino Prince, Husson (ARG) and Wonderful World will commence their racing careers in the latter part of the year and the initial reports from the breakers suggest we are in for an exciting time. We have an outstanding first crop of foals on the ground by our juvenile speedster Murtajill and are anxiously waiting the arrival of the first foals of our regally bred freshman stallion Raheeb.

The Patinack Farm $1m Breeders’ Bonus* is really starting to grab the attention of breeders and buyers alike and we believe this bonus scheme will provide some fantastic returns for those investing in the progeny of the Patinack Farm stallions. Broodmare owners will see the benefits of the bonus scheme initially in the sale ring and then on the racetrack, as they reap the rewards of their mare’s successful offspring. While owners themselves, will see their prizemoney escalate when they welcome back winners at metropolitan racetracks in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland.
We would like to wish you all the very best of luck for the upcoming breeding season and look forward to discussing the breeding options for your mare.
