Top Western Australian sprinter-miler Wolfe Dreams sent his earnings soaring through the $500,000 barrier when he scored a dashing win in Saturday's listed Grandstand Cup (1500m) at Ascot.

A former outstanding juvenile and winner of the Magic Millions Perth 2YO Classic and listed Perth Stakes, Wolfe Dreams continued his development as a promising middle distance performer.

Sent straight to the front by rider Shaun McGruddy, Wolfe Dreams never gave his rivals a look in - cruising along at good speed to run his rivals into the ground.

He came into the home straight with a three length advantage and he cruised home with space between he and his nearest rival Keytomoney.

Senior part owner Brett Wolfe, son of trainer Steve, was not surprisingly all smiles in the winner's stall.

"He's been a great horse for us," Wolfe said. "He's just unreal fun."

"It's been a bit trying with him at times when you bring him to the races and he just misses (victory)."

"When a plan comes together like today it's unreal."

Wolfe Jnr said his father and trainer was overseas on a holiday and we was sure he'd be tuned in to the race.

"We were that confident we thought we'd send the old man away - he's in Phuket for two weeks."

"I guess he did all the work and I'll take the accolades."

Wolfe Dreams has always been a stable favourite according to Wolfe.

"He always tries his heart out and that's all you can ask with a horse - that you take them to the races and they try their best."

Wolfe said without many suitable options for Wolfe Dreams - he could back up next Saturday and be tested over more ground.

"We may run him over 2000 (metres) next week - we'll see. I think that is Dad's plan," Wolfe summed up.

Magic Millions graduates dominated the running of the Grandstand Cup - filling the first four places.

The well backed Wolfe Dreams ($2.80-$3.10-$2.50 fav) raced home to beat Keytomoney ($12-$13-$10) by a length and a half, while Lie in Wait ($13-$14) was another two and a quarter length back in third position.

A son of leading Queensland based sire Sequalo, Wolfe Dreams was sold twice by Magic Millions - for $10,000 as a weanling when offered by Eureka Thoroughbreds (As Agent) at the 2007 National Sale and then $22,000 when sold by Mogumber Park at the 2008 Perth Yearling Sale.

Today's win was the sixth from 20 starts for Wolfe Dreams. He's earned over half a million dollars for his jubilant connections.

The tough Albany based performer is one of four winners for the 100 per cent winner produced Marchen.

A daughter of influential sire Rory's Jester, Marchen is a half sister to the stakes placed Star of the Seas as well as the dam of South African based group winner and fellow Magic Millions graduate Flying Tristram.
